Astronotus Ocellatus - These fish have a large oval shaped body with thick large lips and are a pale yellow with red eyes.

Found in the Amazon basin, these cichlids live in small groups whilst young but prefer a solitary existence as they age. These fish are carnivorous and prefer a protein rich diet and live food where possible, they are also messy eaters and so the gravel/substrate in the aquarium will require a regular vaccum to keep the water in good condition.

Temperature: 23-27 degrees celsius

Tank requirements: Filter & Oxygen, Heater

Tank Mates: Not a community fish but may live with similar sized cichlids such as Jack Dempseys or large plecs.

Feeding: Good Quality Flake or Pellet.
